My SARK Books

My SARK books are all lined up like visiting friends because that’s what they are ~ delightfully funny, candid, creative, refreshing, nurturing, loving, accepting, wise, embracing, wild, and succulent friends.  We dance and laugh and celebrate and find joy together.

SARK is one of us.  She experienced physical and sexual abuse at the hands of her brother.  She adopted the name SARK which stands for Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy.

Today’s post is in a rainbow of colors because that’s how SARK writes her books.  They are a riot of colors in SARK’s scrawling handwriting.  She beautifully illustrates all her books in ways guaranteed to make you smile.

SARK’s books helped me create my first maps.  My favorite SARK lesson is that “impossible” is actually “I’m possible.”

I found her books at a bookstore in Kankakee, Illinois on a day I felt like a tiny boat trying to stay afloat in a tsunami.  I was so raw and hurting that I couldn’t handle a serious book.  I needed a good friend who’d walked in my shoes and understood completely how I felt and knew what I needed to do to protect myself and heal.

SARK encouraged me to be a Succulent Wild Woman:  Dancing with Your Wonder-full Self!  I started to give myself permission to be crabby.  I had bed picnics.  I set aside nap days.  SARK became A Creative Companion:  How to Free Your Creative Spirit.  She introduced me to Transformation Soup:  Healing for the Splendidly Imperfect and took me to the Fabulous Friendship Festival:  Loving Wildly, Learning Deeply, Living Fully with Our Friends.

SARK taught me to Eat Mangoes Naked:  Finding Pleasure Everywhere and about Prosperity Pie:  How to Relax about Money and Everything Else.  In essence, I learned how to Make Your Creative Dreams Real:  A Plan for Procrastinators, Perfectionists, Busy People, and People who Would Really Rather Sleep All Day and most of all The Bodacious Book of Succulence:  Daring to Live Your Succulent Wild Life!
