RIP, Kiwi Mary

Kiwi Mary in 2013

Kiwi Mary made a dent in the Universe.  My book review followers will remember her as the host of the World’s Best Book Club (WBBC) which is based in Auckland, New Zealand.  She relished selecting books and pairing them with delectable menus prepared by chef extraordinaire Dr. Deanna Bell, who generously shared her recipes on Foodie Fridays on the WBBC’s Facebook page.

Michael Moynahan founded the WBBC. This photo with Kiwi Mary is from 2017.

My survivor followers may be interested to know that Kiwi Mary coined the slogan “Silent No More!” which has been the theme of this blog since July 4, 2010.  It was adopted by the No More movement which ultimately morphed into #MeToo as survivors universally joined forces and decided to be Silent No More!

Kiwi Mary on her 64th birthday in 2017 enjoying her favorite drink, a margarita.  Her friends dubbed it the Mary-garita.

Kiwi Mary lived her life with zest, vigor, and adventure.  She had tremendous talent and a generous spirit infused with joy and love.  Mary passed away peacefully in the wee hours of April 5 in Auckland, New Zealand at the age of 66.  She is survived by her cat Buddy, her nephews Brian and Patrick, her brother Joe, her sister Ann, and legions of friends all around the world.  I am blessed to say I was one of them.  While our hearts are heavy, they are also filled with much love from Mary.

Please join me in celebrating Kiwi Mary’s life and love with a margarita every night for a week.  RIP, my dear friend.  RIP.  I’m going to miss you more than words can express.
