Bravo, Emmys! Charlie Sheen Got Snubbed

When the prime-time Emmy nominations were announced this morning, Charlie Sheen didn’t make the cut for the first time in four years.

It could be that the Emmys thought other actors in comedy shows were better.  I’m hoping that his serial abuse of the women in his life was a factor in their decisions.  I think it is about time men in powerful positions get held accountable for their criminal behavior.

Update:  After I published this post, I discovered a post on Ponderings from PlutoALMA’s website is still under construction so I wasn’t able to independently verify the report.  I’m not concerned whether someone from ALMA actually said this because I wish I had been this clever and observant:

“In light of his recent arrest regarding heavy drinking and allegedly assaulting his wife and treating her disrespectfully, we’ve come to conclude that Mr. Sheen hasn’t really been acting on Two and a half Men,” said ALMA Awards executive producer Janet Murguía in a statement. “Charlie Harper is actually Charlie Sheen. The pure essence of acting is to pretend to be somebody you’re not, and Sheen is proving to us that his on-screen character is merely an extension of who he is in real life.”

American Latino Media Arts Awards (ALMA) presented Mr. Sheen (real name: Carlos Irwin Estévez) an ALMA for best actor in a comedy in 2008.

  1. I hope that the other Hollywood producers follow the Emmy producers lead, that wife-beating will not be allowed in Hollywood. Hollywood will be setting a good example.

  2. Earl,

From your lips to God’s ears!

After I posted this, I discovered that he was stripped of his ALMA Award in 2003. I’m not able to independently confirm this. So, I’m going to quote the blog that reported it because the quote from ALMA is right on.

    Sending hugs,
    Caroline

  3. Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!

  4. He’s every thing magicle and wonderment, that I could have ever wanted and I don’t even have to know Charlie Sheen or ever even talk to him, I’m never dulled, and I don’t want to speak to soon, I feel like my life has changed and anyone could say maybe it isn’t perfect, I just had to put it this way, it’s been an expeince for me, I hope it works out better for him in the upcoming years for his career!

  5. You think that Charlie Sheen is full of magic and wonderment, just wait until he smashes your face in, and then you will change your opinion.

  6. Sorry, Nicole, I don’t see anything magical or wonderful about a man who beats and tries to murder the women he claims he loves. And, I see nothing magical or wonderful about a man who glorifies treating women with disrespect.

I agree with Earl. The stars in your eyes are going to get you enmeshed in a relationship with a guy who beats the crap out of you ~ physically or emotionally or both. If he’s like Charlie Sheen, he’ll probably kill you.

If you spent some quality time with the women who Charlie Sheen has tried to murder, I think you’d change your mind about him. You deserve somebody better in your life.
