i have a story to tell. A story about how I would never stop fighting the courts and my ex husband from abusing my children. I was threatened with jail, fined, chastised by a guardian and a magistrate. I went temporarily blind, went to court 22 times. Finally writing the governor of Florida and getting help. But the characters of my story particularly my attorney are what make this story so incredible. I had to watch my son cower in the corner like a dog and my daughter so scared that her dad would kill her in the night.

My problem is getting this story out in book, or screenplay so that I can use it to help [put a stop to the sickness that is being allowed in the courts today. If you have any ideas how I can help and get my story out there, I would appreciate it. All I can do is try and find a way to get Christian's law on change.org signed. . But I really think my story in its entirety would sell. And I would happily donate portions for the children.

Thanks for visiting, leaving a comment, and linking this article to your own. I found your additional background information on Ms. Ward to be quite informative and VERY interesting.

I don't know if you've read <a href="http://annecarolinedrake.com/2009/07/10/creaming-why-dv-victims-dont-get-help/" rel="nofollow">my post about "creaming."</a> I think it would be interesting to you.

While I fully appreciate that many women have no choice but to represent themselves in court, I strongly disagree that an 8th grader can understand it. . .especially when she's dealing with a DV perpetrator who is manipulating the system as an instrument of abuse. . .and the judge is abusing his/her own family behind closed doors.

Women in such dire circumstances need to rally everybody they can find to pack the court room with folks wearing purple ribbons. I've written a great number of posts about litigation abuse and respond to every comment. My posts about Vernetta Cockerham and my posts about Pierce County WA are particularly relevant for these cases.

In addition, I am working in concert with a number of other bloggers who believe stridently that we must engage in the same kind of on-line strategic thinking as the DV perpetrators.

I won the American Jurisprudence Award for family at DePaul University. I clerked in the Domestic Relations Division (primarily custody court) for 18 months during law school and saw every dirty trick invented in Chicago. I was licensed to practice law in two states. Trust me. I don't have all the answers. So, I'm highly skeptical of anybody who suggests an 8th grader can prevail against an experienced litigator. Minnows don't tend to avoid getting eaten alive by a shark.

That's why so many of my posts are about people coming up with solutions rather than ranting about the problems. I believe that women are highly resourceful. If we put our heads together, we WILL prevail in the end.

Great point, well-timed....

I posted on her today, and am (with credit) posting a paragraph of this one also.

{{familycourtmatters.wordpress.com}}

Thank you for reminding me of this wonderful woman who finally said, "enough is eNOUGH!" and had the courage to call her own family to task.

I'm dealing with this currently, and it's wicked. They kinda let me go, but not my daughters. No backing from the family law system to acknowledge any abuse. I'm trying to raise some funds to re-view Jurisdictionary (google it) as my version of it was stolen during a car vandalism some years ago.

The author of that (tm'd) educational mini-"seminar" claims that the legal process is simple enough an 8th grader could understand it.

Some day I'd like to teach this to women so they don't have to get snookered by family law attorneys who may, or may not, be part of the system.

Thanks for highlighting this woman and how she got started. Glad she got SOME help from VAWA initially.

Right now, we are not sure (as you mention) where all those VAWA funds are going. I think they get stopped before they hit the street level, but I don't have proof yet.
