Pay It Forward, Abuse Survivors: Travel, Flowers, Concert Tickets

Rita Anita Linger was the best advocate anyone who has experienced abuse could hope to meet. She was the force behind getting a settlement for Vernetta Cockerham and for getting protection for Heather Thompson. Even though she is no longer the executive director of the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence, she is valiantly helping me to avoid homelessness.
When we get into a tight spot, the people who help us tend to be fellow survivors. And, most of them do it for free because they know what it is to be walking in our shoes. However, these folks still have bills to pay like everybody else. We need to pay forward their generosity any way we can.
If you are in a fortunate place, I hope you will consider using the Linger family’s travel site the next time you plan a trip or buy concert tickets or flowers. We need to support those who have devoted their lives to helping us. The link will be available in my “recommended resources” section of this web site. Please patronize these folks. The resources on this web site wouldn’t be there but for their assistance.
